#Guccigram – An Invite To Instagrammers
Yesterday, when me and my family were watching traditionally Crete dance, I noticed that almost everyone where holding a smartphone, ready to capture the jumping made by the 80-year old dancer.
Beside working as a great camera capturing epic moments, smartphones are a great tool for collecting apps used for searching for inspiration and information.
In october 2015, Gucci announced #Guccigram, an online art initiative where talents were given free rein to riff on the geraniums of #GGBlooms and graphic lines and patterns of #GGCaleido.
The resulting portfolio is provocative, entertaining and beautiful.
Almost everybody has a Instagram account, and miillions of people around the world are spending a vast amount of time facedown, scrolling down in the pictorial and creative world of Instagram.
Selfies, arts, outfit ideas, morning coffee, floral arrangement, the latest crush are just a few things being posted everyday, by milliions. Working as a connecting channel with each other, Alessandro Michele – Gucci´s head designer is a also a huge fan of Instagram, therefore, the choice of channel to exhibit the #Guccigram art initivative was easy.
Instagram rules. Yes?
“#GucciGram is a starting point to tell different stories, which are all united by a great freedom,” said Michele. “Today creativity is often born and finds its voice in digital media, a vital source of visual culture.”
In this post I´ve picked my favorites among the submissions of crafted pieces inspired by the house´s prints, and for the full selection, please visit the site of Gucci.
What I like most about this project? It has a never-ending deadline. Even though the submission is over, people are still posting art with #Guccigram on Instagram. Well, creativity has no limit, right?
